The Brazilian G20 Presidency started on December 1st, 2023. In the wake of the new G20 host, F20 actively established a trustful and intense working relationship with its Brazilian partner foundations, especially the The Institute for Climate and Society (iCS). Over the course of the Brazilian G20 Presidency, Alice Amorim (iCS) is holding the F20 Chair position.
The annual F20 flagship event – the Climate Solutions Forum- took take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in June 2024. It was organized and hosted by F20, iCS, Fundacion Avina and GIFE.

The guiding theme of this year’s Brazilian G20 Presidency puts a special focus on:

Social inclusion and the fight against hunger

Energy transition and sustainable development in its social, economic and environmental aspects

Reform of the global governance institutions
F20’s main focus for the Brazilian G20 presidency:
F20 works with annually developed general recommendations toward the G20 presidency that reflect the presidency’s focus topics as well as our own reflections on the current challenges and opportunities. The recommendations are published each year and last year’s can be found below.
In 2024 the focus of the policy recommendations will evolve around the following three main issues:

Addressing questions related to global food justice, sustainable finance and implementation of the SDGs

Including aspects of justice, equity and resilience of all societies when implementing the energy transition globally

Increasing scale, pace and speed for Paris-aligned climate action in an inclusive, intersectional and holistic manner
