Chairman & Chief Executive Officer 

Dr. Shawn Xiaohua Qu founded Canadian Solar Inc. in October 2001 and is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Under Dr. Qu’s leadership, Canadian Solar has grown into one of the world’s largest solar photovoltaic products and solutions providers, as well as one of the largest solar power plant developers globally. Over the past two decades, Canadian Solar’s products and services have benefited thousands of customers in over 160 countries, and provided clean electricity to millions of households. Canadian Solar is a public company and has been listed on the NASDAQ since 2006. 

Prior to founding Canadian Solar, Dr. Qu worked at ATS Automation Tooling Systems in Canada and its subsidiary Photowatt International in France. Previously, Dr. Qu also worked as a Research Scientist at Ontario Hydro (now Ontario Power Generation).  

Dr. Qu holds a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from the University of Toronto, a M.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Manitoba and a B.Sc. degree from Tsinghua University. Dr. Qu is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
