The South African G20 Presidency began on December 1st, 2024, and will be the first ever G20 summit hosted in Africa. To enable genuine and positive connections on the ground, F20 is working in close collaboration with our South African partner, Democracy Works Foundation. Over the course of the South African G20 Presidency, Raisa Cole (Democracy Works Foundation) will be the F20 Chair.
The annual F20 flagship event — the Climate Solutions Forum — will take place in Cape Town, South Africa in May 2025. More information about this event will be shared closer to the date.
“Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”
The thematic focus of South Africa’s presidency reflects the original G20 mandate of promoting strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth:
1
Through solidarity, we can create an inclusive future centred on people. Solidarity will allow us to develop our societies in a way that reflects our shared humanity. In our interconnected world, the challenges faced by one nation impact all nations.
2
By promoting equality, we strive to ensure fair treatment and equal opportunities for all individuals and nations, regardless of their economic status, gender, race, geographic location or any other characteristic.
3
Sustainability involves meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
