Yuri Okubo joined Renewable Energy Institute in 2015 as Climate Change Policy Advisor to develop and implement the Institute’s strategy to promote renewable energy from the climate change policy perspective. She has followed UNFCCC negotiations and currently focuses her research on climate and coal-fired power policy & market. She collaborates with international NGOs, think tanks, embassies, and foundations, delivering global leading examples to Japan while at the same time, keeping international partners informed on Japan’s status and progress. She also supports the non-state actor network Japan Climate Initiative, as REI serves as a secretary organization, to grow voices for a renewable energy & energy efficiency-centered ambitious decarbonization strategy for Japan.
