Driving action for a just and sustainable future
Since our launch in Hamburg in 2017, the Foundations Platform F20 has kept a sharp focus on the climate agenda of the G20 countries and the powerful role philanthropy can play.
Our guiding star for all advocacy, research, and convening activities is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement.
Our engagement with F20 has helped us bring global climate recommendations into Indonesian public discussions and connect local perspectives with international policy debates, since Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022.Julia Novrita, The Habibie Center
F20 has been important for building North-South solidarity on Climate action, providing us with unique opportunities to learn about global perspectives and to concretely coordinate our activities, resulting in the multiplication of our impact. Advocacy
Our advocacy directly aligns the G20 agenda with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the year, we actively engage in key international forums and diplomatic events to build momentum and elevate philanthropic solutions.
This work culminates in the annual F20 Recommendations, evidence-based policy asks developed with our network and delivered directly to decision-makers.

Convening and Events
We unite foundations, policymakers, researchers, and civil society to turn shared goals into collective impact. Throughout the year, we foster trust and strategic coordination through executive member calls, high-level bilateral meetings, and our flagship Climate Solutions Forum.
By aligning these efforts around major international milestones, including COPs and Climate Weeks, we turn global moments into lasting, high-impact alliances.

Strategic Dialogue and Partnerships
Long-term impact requires aligned leadership and persistent engagement. Through regular Steering Group meetings, our partner foundations shape F20’s strategic direction and ensure our advocacy is grounded in global philanthropic expertise.
In partnership with WWF Deutschland, we co-lead an international Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG), mobilizing cross-sector experts to redirect capital flows and directly influence the G20’s financial agenda.
