United States of America G20 Presidency 2026

The United States assumed the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2025, marking the second time the nation has led the forum since hosting the very first Leaders’ Summit in 2008. To establish direct, impactful connections on the ground throughout this cycle, F20 is partnering closely with the Accountability Accelerator, with Executive Director Dr. Natasha Matic stepping in as F20 Chair.

Navigating growing global pushback against climate justice requires bolder, cross-continental dialogue. For the first time, our annual flagship gathering, the F20 Climate Solutions Forum, takes place across two host cities this September: Washington, D.C., and Hamburg, Germany.

Navigating the Priorities and Challenges of the 2026 Presidency

This year marks a noticeable shift in tone and strategy from South Africa’s previous focus on solidarity, equality, and sustainability. The U.S. Presidency centers its agenda firmly on driving immediate economic growth and commercial results through three core pillars: removing regulatory burdens, securing affordable and resilient energy supply chains, and pioneering breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

For the international philanthropic community, the challenge lies in demonstrating that long-term climate resilience, energy security, and technological innovation are inherently intertwined with sustainable, inclusive economic progress.
