He has served as a member of Chinese Association of Conservation Biology, and a member of the China National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Green List, and a member of the 4th National Panda Survey Expert Technical Committee. He also played a leading role in Sichuan province in the 4th National Panda Program. As the formerly Director of the Wilderness Program and the Field Office of Conservation International Foundation (CI) China, he was responsible for developing strategies for CI’s projects of forest, freshwater, climate change, etc.
He is mainly engaged in the distribution, ecology and conservation strategies of rare wild animals and plants; field investigation and protection research of pandas; protection and management of nature reserves, with economic and social surveys of surrounding communities; study of biodiversity conservation strategies and protection planning.
